Hi everyone,

I just got myself a MOTU Ultralite mk3 which works really well with my Pacarana. Just one question: I'm very intrigued by the CueMix software and its possibilities, and I was wondering if anybody already managed to use it alongside with Kyma.

I understand this software is installed with the drivers, and that the drivers shall not be running while the interface is connected to the Pacarana… So, if it is possible to disable the drivers, does the CueMix software still work?

Best,
Camille

I don't have a Pacarana, so I can't try it myself, but I have used and still use a variety of MOTU interfaces, and as far as I've seen, the CueMix software won't launch if the MOTU driver isn't loaded - that is, if you don't see MOTU Audio Setup window launch on startup.

EDIT - actually, CueMix will launch, but you don't get any of the interface if it doesn't see the hardware, so effectively it's disabled.

Good to know, thank a lot.
Then I will revert to the front panel to adjust internal mixer settings, that should be enough for a start.

I have another question about the Ultralite.
Since I can not use the Cuemix software, I would like to know if that is possible:

- for the purpose of playing on stage, I have sounds prepared with different outputs. For example outputs 1&2 and 3&4.
- in the rehearsal studio, I don't want to plug to 4 cables, but I'd like to be able to listen to all my sounds in the same output.

Do I understand correctly that I can make 2 different sets of settings (live, and rehearsal) where the outputs are mixed, or not? Can I affect the routing with the front panel only, or do I have to use the Cuemix software at least once to get those parameters set in the audio interface?

Thanks for any hints on this, this is actually rather important to me as it can lead to very very useful audio routing and adapt to many situations.

Best,
Cam

Update: It seems (unlike the Metric Halo 2882), the MOTU UltraLite mk3 is only able to mix the physical inputs to physical outputs, no possibility to mix the virtual audio streams coming from Kyma ... to bad ... If I am wrong, please correct me!

I use the MOTU Ultralite MK3 - it is rock solid. I use the compressors/limiters on the inputs so that I do not overdrive the Pacy in performance and use the routing to make additional outputs available for spatialisation and or for performance and recording feeds etc - would love an ADAT I/O as well, but the size and functionality are amazing.

I am awaiting the possibility of making multi-device output setups for the Pacarana so that I can have an 8Pre for more mic inputs for performance and or more outputs.

As I say, I have found the MOTU Ultralite MK3 to be excelent.

Cheers, Garthy
