![]() ![]() ![]() I'm planning on finally upgrading to Kyma X, integrating the Intuos3/Kyma/MacMini combo at the same time. I've been running Kyma 5 on a powerbook and my DAW on a G4 tower, so since the new setup will require using a KVM switch for my single monitor (I have a very modest space), I wonder if that means the Intuos3 mouse will be replacing the Apple mouse I now use on the tower system; are there any connectivity/operational things I need to know before going out and dropping my money on the various hardware pieces. In advance, thanks for the input. Bob IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Just a warning - the Intuous3 mouse is an optional extra - it does not come with the tablet set althought it is always pictured in the promos, so you need to add the cost of the mouse to the total. I also found when using a Graphire2 that it is not reliable to unplug the tablet - ie. Kyma did not recognise the tablet when it was pluged back in - not sure if this would be a problem with the KVM switch IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry but the Intuos3 DOES come with a mouse! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() You can have more than one mouse on your USB. So you can leave your Mac mouse plugged in and use the Intuos3 primarily as a Sound controller. In the US, the Intous3 always comes with the mouse. Outside the US I think it is optional (some models include the mouse while others do not). The ones you can get from Symbolic Sound do include a mouse. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the replies. Looks like I should have no problem with the dual mouse set-up, provided I don't have to plug the Mac mouse via my USB hub, which slows response times. Do I merely connect the Intuos3 to the miniMac? Sorry to seem so obtuse..... IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, if the Mini has two USB ports, you could plug the Intuos into one port and the mouse and keyboard into the other port. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() In Australia, the Intuos3 does NOT come with a mouse, it is an optional extra - must be different in other parts of the globe as you comment. I use the Mac mouse. I have some sounds that use the tablet for sound and some as controller - would be great if a button on the Intuos3 could be used to toggle the mode of the tablet so in performance one doesn;t need to access the preferences inbetween pieces. ![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure whether this was clear in the documentation or not, but you can use the eraser end to send controllers and the pen end to send Key Events, so you shouldn't really have to change preferences between pieces. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi guys Yes thanks, I am using both ends, infact I have set the eraser to send Key events and the pen to send control data as that is what I am using the most. However in one of my pieces I want to use the pen as a mouse - ie to select and control sliders in the VCS, in this case I need to change the preferences - I find using the pen rather than the mouse much better, and it allows me just to have one interface in front of me during performance. BTW, I also noted in the Wacom control panel you can set the eraser actually to open an application, so I set pen 2 eraser to open Kyma - makes coming to work on Kyma so easy [This message has been edited by garth paine (edited 09 March 2005).] [This message has been edited by garth paine (edited 09 March 2005).] IP: Logged |
