I'm in no hurry to update any time soon. I'm still using Mac 10.7.5 and have very few issues I've had to fix since I got my iMac almost 2 years ago. I know that some like to be early adopters of a new OS, and was wondering if anyone here has tried using the latest version of the Kyma software and hardware with Mac 10.9. I'm still using a Capybara 320 but I'd be interested to know about either the Capy or Pacarana. Thank you for any information you might have.

I have Mavericks installed on my laptop, and Kyma just crashes when launched. I far as I can tell it's not compatible with this new OS. Fortunately I keep a stick with an alternate OS on it that I can boot from, as "downgrading" from Mavericks seems to be a royal pain.

Thanks for such a quick response, I really appreciate it. It seems that a couple other Kyma users are also having a similar issue. In combination with certain problems associated with DAWs and plugins, there seems to be quite a bit of work ahead for both Apple and 3rd party developers.

Compatibility and stability are an absolute must for creative people. So for me, I probably won't update for quite a while. Everything is working now, so why mess with it? Again, thanks for your reply. And please, SSC chime in with any further information you would like to share. Thank you.

Kyma is choking on one of the new fonts included with 10.9. We're on it. We recommend that you delay updating to OS 10.9 for the moment. More soon...

It's working now. Running a few more tests before making it available for download. Apparently not everyone has the notorious font installed so several people are already able to run under OS 10.9. But if you are one of the unlucky ones, your solution will be available by Monday.

Kyma X.88 is now available for download.

You can access it from the Help menu in Kyma.

Or you can:

* Go to http://www.symbolicsound.com/tweaky
* Click on the "Log in" link; after logging in, the page will redraw
* Click on the "Download" link
* Click on the link "Download the latest release of Kyma X.88" at the top of the page
* Follow the instructions on that page for downloading and updating your copy of Kyma

As usual, SSC not only listens to it's user base, they provide timely updates to make Kyma compatible with the latest operating systems. I only wish that other developers and companies would provide even a fraction of the kind of support we get here. Thank you very much!!

I installed the new update with a Paca (10.85) using a impact twin as a digital io.. and the update introduced clicks on all patches, I rolled back to the previous kyma x os 6.87f6 and everything is working as expected.

The new version of Kyma is 6.88. Which version did you install?

What were you using as the clock source for digital I/O?

6.88 requires a firmware update (do you remember whether you updated the firmware?)

I updated to 6.88

I have the audio interface (impact twin) synced to external adat, clock source Weiss afi1

I am pretty sure I did the firmware update, when I downgraded it asked me I I would like install the older firmware, pretty neat to be able to go back as easily as go forward.

I could try it again to see if I can repro it.

Hi, everyone - as a brand-new Kyma user, this is my first post on the forum.

Unfortunately, I was unaware of the Mavericks bug when I set out to get my Pacarana and its new dedicated interface up and running on Tuesday. It took me 5 hours, but amazingly enough, I actually got everything working!

To celebrate, I went out for a very late breakfast... and checked Kyma tweaky on a whim. Yep, there was the news about the bug and the update.

I updated everything Wednesday morning, and it's been as stable as can be ever since. I just have to laugh at my timing!

If anyone's interested, I'm blogging my ongoing progress at Seaboardist.com, as I've got one of ROLI’s first Seaboards on order, and I can't wait to use it with Kyma. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you seasoned Kyma hands!

Randy
