hi,
on my basic capybara system, with one sample file and one sound played simultaneously on the timeline, my first dsp card is in the red, while the 2 and 3 are fine. is there a way to better utilize the other processors?

is it something more dsp chips would fix?

What is the other Sound (is it writing the memory that the Sample is reading?). Oddly enough, one way to fix this might be to schedule something else in the Timeline at the same time or to add some processing to the Sample. This might cause the scheduler to move some of the Sounds onto the next processor.
