![]() ![]() ![]() Has anyone used these http://iconnectivity.com/products/midi with Paca(rana) for midi and kymacontrol? They are class compliant and look like they might be a good hub for controllers. Also would it work work as a wired ipad with Kyma app? Thanks in advance. Best S IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi, FWIW I use an iConnect MIDI2+ with the Lemur iPad app and a Capy320, also with a Leap Motion and GECO MIDI. Works a treat; easy set up and rock solid. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: KymaControl uses OSC, which is a network protocol. So MIDI I/O is not going to be useful with KymaControl. The iConnectMidi 2nd generation products are very useful though. They are a great way to create wired, bi-directional MIDI communication between your computer and iOS device. Our Reason iOS control surface, rsTouch, is very demanding on MIDI and the iConnect product handles it fine. Another great feature of these interfaces is the audio-over-USB output from the iOS device. On OSX you can create a aggregate CoreAudio interface and then easily input iPad audio into your DAW or other software. I've never tried using the iConnectMidi2+ that we have as a Paca(rana) USB MIDI interface. Its an interesting idea. If it works then you should be able to use the Lemur app for custom MIDI control of Kyma (though its a lot of work, and you have manually assign the MIDI controllers to your Kyma Sounds or the VCS). Also there is no automatic "feedback" from Kyma to the MIDI controller. If you want a more complete, integrated solution which does provide full two-way control of the VCS using MIDI the I suggest looking at our vKiP iPad app. It can connect using either MIDI (wired or wireless) or OSC. For what its worth I have personally found that the most flexible solution is to route MIDI through the computer use a single MIDI "pipe" between the computer and the Paca(rana). Kyma only supports a single MIDI connection regardless of how it is made (or how many interfaces you have). So connecting a multi port MIDI interface directly to the Paca(rana) is not going to "buy" you any benefit. All incoming MIDI is merged into one stream, and all outbound MIDI is replicated on all outputs. So in the end you are limited to 16 MIDI channels. Routing it first through the computer affords flexibility for routing, filtering, and further processing. It also makes it more straightforward to do things like record controller moves into your DAW. Our OSX KymaConnect application is designed to serve as a "one stop shop" for all Paca(rana) communications. It provides MIDI and OSC communications over the network connection to the Paca(rana) so no physical MIDI interface is needed for the Pacarana. You can find more information about vKiP and KymaConnect at www.delora.com.
