Author | Topic: Pacarana support for more than 8 I/Os planned? |

![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry it this has been discussed before, but just wondering if there are any plans to increase the number of I/Os available within the Kyma software, depending on the interface being used? For example with my Konnekt 48 there are 24 possible simultaneous I/Os, but currently only 8 can be used. Presumably the 8 I/O limit was in place because the physical I/Os on a Capybara were limited to 8, rather than any limitation with the Kyma software or processing power? Will it be a major job and re-write of the software to add support for more I/Os, or something that might happen quite soon? To me it makes sense to want to use the Pacarana like this, as there is so much processing power available it's ideal to use it as a "multi-effects rack", kind of like an Eventide but with much more power and flexibility... I just switched to a more economical setup with a Logic Pro rig (on a separate computer from Kyma), after using a Pro Tools HD system for the last 5 years or so. So I'm used to having a lot of plugins available, but in my stripped down setup I'm basically only using the built in plugins Logic has (possibly adding Sonnox EQs/compressors later as well). I also used to have a Creamware Scope DSP system which I recently sold during my re-fit, which I used extensively for effects processing during mixing. I invested in Kyma so I could concentrate on creating sound effects, however I am still required to do "traditional" band mixes from time to time, and I want to squeeze the most out of my Pacarana when I'm not using it for the more "far-out" stuff. I also need to create more variety in my mixes now I don't have so many tools available (the Pacarana is part of a portable rig, so I'm planning not to use any outboard effects from now on, just Logic, TC NEAR Effects on the Konnekt and the Pacarana). So in this scenario I want to try out the more "standard" effects on the Pacarana, even the compressors/eqs/chorus/phasers etc., and I'm quite excited about this because so far I've found everything in Kyma has a very distinctive sound... So I think it could lead to more individual sounding mixes (and more interesting than going for the regular Waves stuff etc. etc.). Anyway I'm gonna test out this workflow with the 8 I/Os I already have, but any news on the possibility of adding I/Os would be great, and would be a really neat setup as I'm using a Konnekt 48 with Logic as well.
