Hey there,
I have been working my way through kyma x revealed and have arrived at p159 orchestral kaos. As an experiment i gradually increased the grain size of each track which worked up to around 500 on my pacarana. Once over this amount I got a Out of Realtime notice, however DSP status on the Pacarana LCD noted 70% / 1% /1% / 1% and I could not play the sound.

I would have expected the load to be mostly on DSP 1 and then spread out over the other 3. Why is this not the case?

Also, after reaching Out of Realtime I have found I need to restart my Pacarana before any other sounds can play. Is this normal?

Thanks

Is 500 the value of MaxGrains? Or GrainDur? MaxGrains is the maximum number of simultaneous grains *per processor*. To increase the density of grains, you could add several CloudBanks together, making sure that each one has a different seed value (and for even more uncorrelated results, make sure each of the Noise modules feeding it has a different seed in it as well).

Yes, sometimes the Pacarana has to be reloaded after going out of real time. In answer to your question, it is 'normal' (i.e. nothing to be concerned about), but we are working on making it so that won't be normal in the future. ;-)
