![]() ![]() ![]() I'm a total newbie. I've had my Kyma system for a week now and I've run into a stumbling block. After double-clicking on the Noise (White) module in the Prototype strip a new sound editor window opens. When I try to click and drag another module from Prototypes, say a Compressor dB, into that sound window it disappears. I've tried dropping in onto the line connecting the White Noise module to the speaker icon, both off the plus sign and on. I've tried Shift, Control, Option, Apple.... This is freshman level stuff, so I'm sorry to bother everyone with it. I searched the manual and this forum and can't figure out what I'm missing. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hmmm....I tried doing what you've described (with white noise and compressor db) and it worked ok for me so maybe there is something else going on. Do you see a grayed out image of Compressor dB while you are dragging it? When you drop it, do you have the tip of your cursor arrow touching the line between Noise and the output speaker icon? Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I've been trying again this evening. What I'm dragging is a visual copy of the module exactly how it appears in Prototypes, only translucent. I drop it onto the line, trying different placements down to the pixel with the tip of my mouse pointer on the line, above the line, below it-- onto the plus sign, onto the module already there, onto the speaker icon. I've tried various modules from several catagories. I'm stumped. Does it matter which window is in front ("selected")? Once I pick something up from Prototypes the sound window is no longer selected. ![]() ![]() ![]() Could you please tell us which operating system you are using, which version of Kyma, your computer, your mouse, and your monitor setup (e.g. do you have Kyma displaying on more than one monitor?) Can you select items in the Sound Browser? Can you drag Sounds into a Timeline? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() If you started with a mixer module and double click until you see the fields below the sound, are you able to drag another sound from the prototypes into the white inputs field along side the icon in its input so making two inputs into the mixer? Do you have any other programs running? Was there another window that has been collapsed or reduced that once covered the aria that the sound window currently is? Can you click on the sound window (and move it a bit) just before you click on the prototypes so that the last selected window(prior to the prototypes) was the sound it self? Does the sound window and the prototypes window both avoid touch the edge of the screen or each other? Can you resize the prototypes window a little in case it thinks it's bigger than it really is. Try double clicking in the white aria around the speaker icon to force a redraw. Try choosing a starting sound that has more than one icon and see if you can move the relative to each other. Does a new icon drop on a line when it's diagonal and not horizontal? just thoughts [This message has been edited by pete (edited 30 November 2007).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you both for widening my search. I was trying everything I could think of but my scope was far too limited. I should have been thinking outside Kyma as well. It turned out to be the use of a second monitor-- once I unplugged it the problem went away. For the record my system is: PowerBook G4 (1.25 gHz, 2GB RAM), OS 10.4.10, Kyma 6.461, Mighty Mouse with Apple USB (G5) keyboard, external 19" NEC CRT monitor. I appreciate your help! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Actually I use a three monitor setup and it works what ever screen i put the prototypes and even if i drag from one screen to another, I'm using a G5 with an ATI dual monitor graphics card and a black magic video card providing the third monitor IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Pete and "Radio", Which screen was your menu bar on in the multi monitor setup. I think the menu bar must be on the leftmost monitor in order for Kyma to have the correct coordinates. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I believe I've figured it out. It has to do with monitor arrangement. The Kyma menus show up on my PowerBook on the left with the CRT on the right, hooked up through a DVI to VGA adapter. I've been trying different resolutions and color depths, but it was the monitor arrangement that was the culprit. I had the second monitor arranged higher (in System Prefs) than my primary one because it's physically about four inches above my PowerBook. Once I aligned the "bottom" of both displays the problem in Kyma went away. Thanks again for your help! [This message has been edited by RadioFilter (edited 01 December 2007).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Okay it's still a bit sketchy with the "bottoms" of the monitors aligned. The drag and drop functionality went away after a couple of hours. I'm now trying it with the "tops" aligned. It seems to be working fine (going on four hours now). Neal [This message has been edited by RadioFilter (edited 02 December 2007).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() For what it's worth, I was having this exact problem, and aligning the monitors along the top fixed it. Very frustrating until I gave up and went to the forum. I'm new to kyma... is there a public bug tracker? I can't find anything from the main pages. And thanks for the solution! IP: Logged |
