Hi I have a music track playing in a GenericSource and wanted to have a trigger that would fade out the music in x seconds and raise a reverb level so I can blend the disappearing of the music on the scene. Thanks for your help Luis Aly IP: Logged |

Sorry that was just a statement not a question ... So the question is any hints for achieving this operation? Thanks Luis Aly IP: Logged |

One approach might be to put it into a Timeline and draw the fade out; you could put a WaitUntil just prior to the fade out of the Sound and the fade up of the Reverb so you could control exactly when it occurs. IP: Logged |

Hi SSC Yes I thought about that but I would prefer to act direct on the Sound. I was thinking a kind of ramp inverse. Ramp is 0 to 1 and I would like 1 to 0 and add some ramp time. Kind of fade in and out programmable in VCS thanks Luis Aly IP: Logged |

Hi Luis You could try to manipulate the ramp: statement to do the job but that jumps 1 to 0 when triggered before it begins it's ramp period. There are ways to get round this but there is an easier way to do it. If you used an AR module and kept the gate open until you wanted to decay, it would be much easier. Also as I've said many times before, if ever you use an AR module you end up replacing it with an ADSR (doing the same job as an AR) because it has more functionality and this certainly one of those times. So get an ADSR and feed it into a Product (multiply) module that also has your signal being fed into it. Make the sustain equal 1 and make the release and decay have the same values. in this case the value will be !FadeTime s. Put 1-!StartFade in the gate field and the attack should be 0s (but you may find a better use for this later). Make !Startfade a filled toggle button and !Fade time a slider in the VCS. Now as the !StartFade is normally zero, the ADSR will be open all the time until you press the !StartFade button. Now the benefits of the ADSR over the AR. you put 1 in the legato field of the ADSR so that if you start the fade but change your mind, it will move back to fully open from where it had reached (not click to silence and back as an AR module without the legato tick box would). Here you could put a value in the Attack as a smooth recover. Also you can have a exp or lin type fade with the tick box in the ADSR. Try both as they both have their merits. Now for the fading up reverb. You can use another ADSR and Product pair but this time put !StartFade in the gate field and !FadeTime s in the Attack Field. I hope this makes sense Pete [This message has been edited by pete (edited 08 October 2013).] IP: Logged |

Hi Luis No you're only allowed to use it 12 times before it turns into a pumpkin. Sorry just my bad sense of humour. Anyway glad it worked and the more you can use it the better. Thanks Pete IP: Logged |
