I´ve heard hellish things about the Mac and USB-MIDI, but I really need a MIDI interface now (basically to send MIDI data from Max and Cubase to Kyma)...so does anyone here have any suggestions?

From what I understand, the Midiman MIDISport and the MOTU Fastlane are the two main contenders. I´ve heard bad things about both, but mostly about the MIDISport (although supposedly a set of new drivers have improved things...?). Anyone care to give any recommendations?

I have a G3 500 PowerBook, 256MB Ram, OS9.0.4, running Logic Platinum, with a Unitor 8 II on the USB port. Works fine.

Guess I should´ve been more precise, as I´m looking for a cheap-ish model rather than a pro model...I´m on a budget, and the interface you mention cost $700+ in Norway, which is way more than I can spend at this point in time. :-(

I've seen the emagic mt4, 2 in/ 4out, operate real good in combination with a G3 powerbook.

You were right about the problems with moto midi interface, usb and cubase.
I have a G4 400 with MOTU micro express 4 in 6 out and every time I used
the Qwerty keyboard as motion control it would crash cubase. BUT now with the new version of "freemidi" , all the problems have gone away and it works 100% . I would recomend it to anyone who needs a midi interface with SMPTE.
I'm sure fast track will now be O.K. aswell, but you do need OMS to sit in the middle between cubase and freemidi. I wonder if anyone knows if OMS is needed with all usb interfaces and cubase? My old midiman (printer port type)interface didn't need it.
