![]() ![]() ![]() I have a Timeline which I use for a live performance piece and it worked fine under 6.53. Now when I try it with 6.54, it won't compile, saying that it has run out of sample memory at some time. (It still works with 6.53, I checked that.) I can get it to work by removing a Sound at the beginning that was used to clear out some MemoryWriters so they won't have junk in them when I do the performance. So, I have two questions. Why won't the Timeline work as it did in 6.53? Is it a change in the scheduler or something? I've had this problem several times in the past where something won't compile with a newer version of Kyma. But this is the first time it actually affected a piece which I need for a performance. Secondly, why do I have to explicitly record silence into a named MemoryWriter buffer before I use it? Seems like this would be the default operation, or at least there should be a pre-zero option like in the delay lines. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Checked the list of changes and there does not appear to be anything in particular that should have caused your Timeline to stop working. If you'd like to email the Timeline to us, we will have a look. Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() More to the point - how would you recommend ensuring that a named MemoryWriter buffer is empty (all zero) if you can't explicitly erase it in the currently compiled Sound? For example, I play my Timeline to try it out, and in the process some audio gets written into a MemoryWriter. I stop playback, then re-compile. The MemoryWriter will contain data from the previous use. Compiling a different Sound then going back to the Timeline doesn't seem to guarantee the MemoryWriter will be forgetten. Would initalizing the DSP work? (Seems like a hassle, and one runs the risk of the word "Kyma" booming through the PA.) Any suggestions? (I could send you the Timeline, but when I archive it, it is 40M bytes. There are a lot of audio samples. Maybe I could compress it.) IP: Logged |
