Hi,

while doing some trial and error with the SampleCloud sound,
I noticed that the original pitch of my sample was altered after
having it load into the SampleCloud. How can this be? And how
can you ensure that the original pitch is kept within the Sample-
Cloud?

Thanks, Florian

Are you sure that your sample rate is set correctly?

For the sample cloud, Kyma assumes that the sample rate of the sample is the same as the sample rate of the Capybara, so if they are different, you would get the pitch change.

You can re-record the sample in Kyma to have it re-sample the sample.l

I also have this problem of not getting the original sample frequency, while using a 44.1 kHz, 16 bit sample, with the Capybara running at 44.1 kHz. I tried using a re-recording of the sample through Kyma, no improvement. Recording the sample into the Capy memory and setting the SampleCloud to from memory did work, but what could I be doing wrong in the other cases?
Thanks, David.

SampleCloud is expecting a mono file. Could it be that you are specifying a stereo file in the Sample field?

Hi,

sorry for this late reaction (not that I lost interest in the topic, for other reasons I didn't visit the forum lately).
Re: Sample-rate set correctly? Mono/stereo?
To be honest, at the time that I posted my first question I wasn't aware of both possible error-sources. Meanwhile I checked both and the cause of my error probably was the difference in sample-rate. But I have to add that I can confirm what David has mentioned earlier: simply to adjust the sample-rate of the capybara didn't solve the problem.
I definitely did use a mono sample, so do you know why this adjustment doesn't help here?

Thanks, Florian

Florian,
Could you please archive the problem sound + sample and attach it to an email to symsound? Thanks.

I just archived another problem sound + sample for you. So I will do
this one next week, when I have time for this.
Thanks again!
