hello

i received the error message "the file is too short or the analyses frequency is set too high" when importing short percussive samples into the tau editor. the message has come up a few times in the last week. all of the samples that i have been analysing are short percusive samples - single hit kik drum, tabla strokes or synth hits that are 120 - 400 ms long. i have compared the frequency ranges that the tau editor displays just prior to processing and the figures seem accurate when compared to the sample file in the sample files editor.

any suggestions about why? the kik drum samples are quiet low with body around 40 hz but the others have very little under 200 hz.

the other item that is important to note is the capybara sends a short spike of audio then needs to reintitialize the capy - this has happened a few times, but not all the time that i receive the error.

i tried to upload an example but the browser will not allow sitx, psi, or tau.

btw i am without internet service at the moment -problems with the isp - replacing the tower which is behind schedule- so my response may be a little slow.

thanks rafe

Sounds like there may not be enough cycles in the file. (Have you tried analysing longer duration files of the same instruments?)

This might indicate a hardware problem. In my case an expansion card had to be replaced.

Given that it is correlated with the analysis of very short samples in the Tau editor, it seems much more likely to be associated with a problem in the way Tau handles short files in software rather than having anything to do with the hardware.
