Can anyone recommend a good package for drawing waves. I might be barking up the wrong tree but the sort of thing I wanted to do was to draw my own control waves like Gaussian.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

For shapes that you can describe as functions, you could use the templates at the bottom of the Kyma sample file editor to generate lines, exponential lines, etc.

That's what I've been doing up to now, but what I fancied doing was some skewed gaussian, double peaks, animated series etc. Just by way of experimenting without any idea of the effect!

If you're on a MAC check out Paul Berg's AC Toolbox at: www.sonology.org

I showed just how to do this at KISS 09 in Barcelona. It is very easy to draw your own waveforms through the menu option Define>Shape>Draw, and then saving your drawn shape as a soundfile (File>Write Sound File).

Thanks very much Hector.

I've downloaded it. Followed your instructions as far as 'write sound file' it asks me for an expression. I've had a read of he documentation and can't easily see what the expression should be!

Any hints!

Thanks

Mike

The expression is just the name you give to the shape when you first make it. When you do what I said before you will get a window where you can draw the shape. You need to then give it a name in the appropriate field, and hit the Make button. Then when you write the sound file you need to write the name you used for your shape in the Expression field, and hit the Do it button.

Hope that helps.
