I have a quick question for the mathematicaly gifted.

1. I want a audio file that is 133bpm to play back at exactly 135bpm. I do not care about a shift in pitch, just bpm. The file is 44100hz (133) If I change the samplerate to 44763hz, will this achive the result I desire?

2. What software will allow me to change the samplerate from 44100 to 44763 (altering time and pitch) then resample back to 44100 (maintaining the pitch and time adjust from the previous change)

3. Same as question 1, but starting at 137bpm 44100hz to 135bpm. Would this be 43456hz?

In Kyma, I would just play it back using the Sample module with the Frequency set to:

default * (135/133)

Then I would choose Record to disk... from the Action menu and record it at the new BPM.

Thanks SSC! That's the way to do it! I must make everything so darn complicated.

Hi Mr. Variable

I'm not one of those mathematically gifted but I think I can help with this one.

Yes your math's are correct and as long as you stick to ratios ( multiply by the biggest number and divide by the smallest if you expect the answer to be bigger and visa versa if you expect it to be smaller) and avoid the "plus X percentage" type math's , it all remains easy.

As far as the change of tempo with no funky time stretch or pitch shifting compensation (this is what I would call varispeed), you can do it in kyma without the need to change the sample rate ,by using a "sample" module, switching off the loop function , putting "(default * 135)/133" in the frequency field, and then selecting record to disc under the action menu.

You may want to calculate the new file duration using the same ratio principal.

hope it helps.
