![]() ![]() ![]() Hello, dear kyma Community, I'm new to this, and thus, want to say hello and ask two noobish questions i really have problems i couldn't find solutions to neither in Kyma X revealed! nor in the Forum. no 1: If i want to interpolate between presets, and would like to configure with what to control this interpolation in the "Preset automation Options" Dialog, there are no CCs or anything offered. Is this ONLY possible with a wacom tablet?? Can't imagine that.Any tips on that would be appreciated a lot. no 2: This question could really be a simple misunderstanding of some conceptual thoughts behind all this, but I'd like to ask nevertheless: If i create some simple Synth, with controls over let's say the cutoff, then put it into a timeline, and create another synth with the same parameter called "Cutoff", there will always be interferrencies i will be forced to be caring of by either giving the parameters different names, or change their live/automated status repectively. Moreover if i combie a couple of prototypes in a sound, the problem seems even more drastic, since sometimes i even don't notice that for example the decay of an adsr suddenly also controls the decay of a later introduced reverb, and so on. Do i Miss something here? In my understanding this concept would be much more useful if a newly introduced reverb would for exaple call its parameters automaticly eg. "reverb_decay". Any combination of conserved Sounds seems so problemati to me. Afterall, thanks, Any hints on all this would be geatly appreciated!! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() In the support forum look at this thread "vcs value unlink" That may help with one question. I don't know the answer to the others I'm afraid. I know for example that DeloraSofts vM2 on the Lemur can change presets remotely so I'm sure it's quite mappable. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hello Patrik,
quote: If you drag and drop an InterpolatePresets module just to the right of the Sound whose presets you want to control, it gives you a single control (by default it is called !Preset but you can rename it) for selecting (and interpolating between) presets. This control you can map to any external controller; just ctrl+click on !Preset in the VCS, and select the desired cc or Pen or Wiimote control from the list. Or control it from the VCS on screen or from a MotorMix, BCF2000 or Delora vM2.
quote: If you drag the two copies of Synths into different tracks of the Timeline, and if those tracks retain their unique MIDI channels, then the controls on the two copies of the Synth will be independent (they will be on different MIDI channels). When combining Sounds in the Sound editor, you can ensure the independence of their hot values by putting a Prefix module to the right of one of the Sounds. By default, the hot values will have the name of the Sound added as a prefix to their controls (as in your example, 'reverb_decay'). Or you can specify your own prefix (something shorter like 'rev_'). IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Wow, I learned some stuff here. Interpolate presets sounds very cool. Thx SSC. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Regarding the hot value naming problems (unintended overlapping of hot value names in unrelated parts of the sound): I have just gotten in the habit of avoiding generic names for controls. So instead of having !Cutoff as a value, I might have !CutoffGuitarDelay or !LowPassCutoff or !CutoffBandPassNoise. I think it is good to be as detailed as possible with variable and hot value names (it might save you having to comment your code some), but that's a personal programming style choice. The VCS will automatically do it's best to make a legible abbreviation, but often I will customize the abbreviations. I do this especially when designing anything that I think I might reuse or repurpose for another project. Phil IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Ok I've tried all this now and again, i'm afraid one problem arose: Preset interpolation is working just fine when used in a sound but as soon as i drag this ino a timeline, all the preset controlled faders return to the VCS and the prest fader disappears, But in the Parameterfield in the Timeline, everything looks just like it should- one preset param, nothing else. But i can't make it show up on the VCS or control it live. i don't understand. I now found a very nice thread how to search on the forum, that's helpful. But actually where are good resoucres to find documentation about newer features(e.g. timline preset interpolation) or prototypes? So i don't have to bother the forum with too basic stuff..
