Dear fellow KymaSapiens,

Has anyone else created Kyma guitar amp/preamps? The first thing you notice is that using straight unadulterated clipping distortion is pretty unpleasant sounding. I'm hoping to get a discussion going on ideas for how to get truly colorful harmonic distortions. The best methods I've hit on so far are: 1) wave rectifying + low-pass filtering 2) multiple waveshapers (using custom made curves) and/or compressor/limiter stages--in series and in parallel and in combinations thereof. 3)Dividing frequency bands and clipping the lower bands hard, the middle bands softer, and the high bands not at all. 4) Combinations of all the above.
Anybody got more ideas?
