What are the limitations for reliable direct-to-disk recording? Specifically, assuming a super-fast hard drive, how many channels can be recorded simletaneously via a PCI vs. PCMIA card at 48khz 24bit guarenteed with no dropouts? Does PC vs. Mac make a difference?

Thanks!

We are at the AES show this weekend, but we can try this out and let you know after we get back in the office on Thursday. The only specs we have right now are for 16-bit and 44.1 khz sample rate.
