Author | Topic: Mic for field recordings etc? |

![]() ![]() ![]() Subject says it all, more or less: anyone have any recommendations for a good (but cheap-ish) mic for field recording (and sound object recording in general)? It should be stereo, and it should not cost too much for a poor student. How about those binaural mics? Anyone have any experience with these (quality, fidelity, noise etc.)? /Řivind/ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: I recall reading in last months (October) EQ about stereo recording mics that look just like sony walkman earbuds. You're basically using your head and ears to preform all of the complex filtering you'd need to use a dummy head for. Their stereo imaging is reportedly rather startling in it's clarity, plus, you're not intimidating or disturbing your sample material by waving a big mic around. ![]() ![]() ![]() I've used the Audio-Technica AT822 with a portable DAT for several years. It is inexpensive and sounds pretty good. The stereo image is nice, and I have used it 'one-sided' for mono voice recording. IP: Logged |
