Author | Topic: Delora Software announces iPad multitouch VCS controller |

![]() ![]() ![]() Harmony Systems, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of vKiP on the Apple iTunes App Store. vKiP is the latest addition to Delora Software's growing family of Kyma control surface applications and connectivity applications. vKiP uses the Apple iPad as a multi-touch, wireless control surface for your Kyma sound creations. It connects directly to your Pacarana or Paca sound computation engine using Kyma's integrated OSC features, and requires no additional software so it is fully usable with both OSX and Windows set ups. vKiP builds on our long experience with vM2, vKA, and vKi to provide a VCS compatible controller. All of the required buttons, LEDs, faders, and rotaries are present on a single screen for convenient, ready access. A large, readable "LCD" message area displays labels, setting values, and snapshot names. A full implementation of the VCS banking standard affords access to as many fader and rotaries as Kyma allows. vKiP works in any orientation, landscape or portrait, so you can choose whichever is most comfortable. Landscape offers both right and left handed operation. You can change orientations at any time by simply rotating the iPad. vKiP is perfectly at home on your studio desk but its wireless connectivity opens new vistas for Kyma interaction. Use it while sitting back in your listening sweetspot, or carry it over to your controller to provide ready hands-on tweaking while you play. For additional information please visit http://www.delora.com/delora_products/vkip/vkip.html. To purchase vKiP visit vKiP on the iTunes App Store. Douglas Kraul IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Speaking of how to get your wireless tablet talking to the Paca(rana) (beautiful app, Doug!!), there is a little wireless access point that you may find useful for connecting your Paca(rana) to a local wireless network; it's called the Asus WL0330gE Portable Wireless Access Point (and I mention it because I just noticed that it currently has a 10 dollar rebate thing going on Amazon for the month of August which makes it about $33): You connect the Asus to the Ethernet port on the back of the Paca(rana) and it can draw its power from the USB port on the back of the Paca(rana) (cute!) It doesn't have a super wide range (only about 7 meters), but that should be strong enough for connecting your iPad to your Paca(rana) in the same room. Here are some screen shots showing how to configure the Asus. There are a lot of wireless routers out there (I only mentioned this one as it is fairly inexpensive) so if other people have had luck with other ways of setting up a local Paca(rana) network, please let us know! If you already have a local wireless network, then you won't need this little guy. This info is just for people who have their wireless routers situated far away from the Paca(rana) or who want to tour with the Paca(rana) and need to set up a local network somewhere away from their home studios. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, connect the Ethernet jack on the back of the Paca to your wireless router (or to a portable wireless access point as mentioned above). IP: Logged |
