Hi SSC,,

I am unable to launck Kyma. Within a second or two of the splash screen displaying I get an error saying "Kyma X application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I've checked connections and even re-installed a previous version but same result.

Hope you can help.

Regards,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Is it possible that your PC's processor does not support SSE3? Try deleting the desktop shortcut and rerunning the .vbs script for X.79 to create a new shortcut, but this time with the non-SSE version of Kyma.

Thanks!

Hi SSC,

In the X.79 post I detailed a problem that was resolved by using the non SSE version and I have been successfully using that till this new problem started happening.

I'm not near my setup at the moment but will give your suggestion of recreating the desktop shortcut a try later today but I am already using the 'start kyma' shortcut and it is pointing to an exe in the non SSE folder.

Chat soon
Sean

Hi Sean,

Please email us a list of all hardware and software changes that you made to your system between the time when it worked and today when it stopped working. Thanks!

Hi SSC,

Just tried deleting and re-creating the non-SSE shortcut as suggested, no change.

The only software that has been changed on this machine between Kyma working and now is Firefox which recently auto-upgraded itself to 3.6.15.

regards,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Please send an email listing your operating system, your PC's processor type, peripherals & how they are connected, and all changes/additions to software and hardware (including seemingly trivial ones like new fonts or browsers or changing the way you have your devices plugged into the power), anything at all that might offer a clue as to why it was working and then stopped working. Thanks!

Joy

I had been doing some MS Word Template work which required the installation of Fruitiger True Type font.

Uninstalled that, launch Kyma, success

Thanks SSC

Out of interest - just wondering why a single font should prevent Kyma from launching?

The clock tool would be my guess as the problem. I have heard that some fonts or just having lots of fonts installed can cause problems , the clock tool lists all installed fonts.

Not sure if having ALL installed fonts available for use in the clock is really neccessarry though. I could live with Arial and Times.

Sean
