I am working on a huge Sound, and have hit a dsp limit , so I was thinking about recording to disk, the information output from a realtime frequency tracker, and then just playing back this 'rendered' information as a samplefile read from disk, thus saving loads of DSP.

But, how should I go about recording and re-reading this info? Is it just a case of using a DiskRecorder to capture , and then DiskPlayer, in the place of the original freq tracker? Or do I have to AmpTrack the playback of the DiskPlayer to use the frequency information contained within?

I would recommend inserting a DiskCache module into your signal flow graph between the FrequencyTracker and the parameter field where the frequency envelope gets used. Check the Record box the first time you play it. Then uncheck the Record box to read the recording off disk for subsequent playings.

By using the DiskCache you preserve the original signal flow graph and can easily re-record the frequency tracking info if you should decide to change something in the future.

The left output of FrequencyTracker is the frequency (divided by SignalProcessor halfSampleRate) and the right output is the amplitude. You can use the frequency estimate without the amplitude envelope or you could record the left and right outputs into separate disk caches.
