Author | Topic: Paca whistle sound in off mode |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hello. First post here from a week old Kyma user. I have noticed that while the Paca is off but plugged in, there is a high-pitched sound (like a trickle of gas escaping from a cannister) coming from it. It is not loud, but loud enough to give me a sigh of relief when I power it up and it disappears. I don't mind, as long as this is normal and I have nothing to worry about. The Paca performs beautifully and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. Thank you Rob IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome to the forum, Rob! The whistle you hear is actually coming from the power supply brick. It's an EnergyStar power supply so when you switch off the Pacarana, it goes into standby mode. The good news is, unlike a traditional power supply which would continue to draw power even when the device it's powering is switched off, this one goes into an energy-saving mode when its device is not asking for power. The annoying news is that the low power mode emits a soft high-frequency whistle. One solution is to plug the power supply into a switched power strip and to actually switch OFF the power strip after you have shut down the Pacarana. That way, the power supply brick isn't getting any power so it won't go into its standby mode. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() That's good news! I do not mind as long as I know it is normal behaviour, and the workaround is pretty simple. Thank you for your reply and warm welcome. IP: Logged |
