Is anyone running kyma with windows xp?
I want to buy a new notebook that I would
use with Kyma but not sure of the problems.

We have not yet tested Kyma with XP, but we expect that it will not work at this time. We are expecting to have compatibility later this year.

I took a shot at trying to install it but for some reason it wouldn't recognize the kyma.ini file. I have all kinds of W98 software that runs fine under XP, but it does require that the drivers be very well-behaved as they run in unprotected memory.

Sorry, meant .inf If anyone knows why XP might not like kyma.inf and wants to suggest something to try, I'm willing to do a test (I have both an XP machine and a Mac to go back to if it doesn't work). XP has a driver verifier that will watch the driver's behavior once it's installed.

I know a little more now:

Windows Driver Model drivers might work if the .inf file includes specific instructions for XP. Drivers for 98 that aren't WDM are unlikely to work.

I, too, am looking forward to Windows XP compatibility since that means I can take my Kyma on the road with me (I only carry one machine - my laptop, and all my other software runs on XP, blah blah blah).

Is there an ETA yet? (Can I offer any assistance with driver writing in the few spare cycles I've got?)

ETA is still the end of this year. Thanks for the offer, btw, it's reassuring to have friends in high places

I know that Win XP and Win2000 are similar but are you intending to support Win2000 anytime soon ?

we have just been forced to upgrade all our PC's to Win2000 and so can no longer use Kyma until you provide compatability, surely there are more than enough people needing this now........please

thanks
Dan
