maxHarmonic is a message that you can send to a frequency with units. The result is the maximum harmonic number of that frequency that you could generate without exceeding half the sample rate. For example:

1 d maxHarmonic

would evaluate to 600 when the sample rate is 44.1 khz.

By the way, is there an updated document that lists the current messaages and new prototypes (like modal filter), I searched what I had for maxharmonic and modal filter and cannot seem to find any docs about them, I am sure that there are other things that noobs like me are not even aware are lurking in the software......

In any parameter field, ctrl+shift+H opens a list of all CapyTalk expressions.

From the Help menu, you can select Prototypes Reference for a list of all Sounds parameter documentation. (Thanks for pointing out that ModalFilter is missing from that list; we will generate an updated list and include it with the next free software update..coming soon!)

Plus, Jeffrey Stolet's book "Kyma and the SOS Disco Club" should be available starting in January 2012

Thanks for bringing that to our attention, Greg!
