![]() ![]() ![]() I'm curious if anybody here has taken a look at this Smalltalk-based project from the MIT Media lab: http://scratch.mit.edu/ On the surface it seems to be about teaching kids to program, but if you download it and check out the code examples it can do some pretty impressive things (I was just looking at the "music and dance" examples). There are videos on youtube, but I haven't looked at too many. This one goes into some detail: Anyway, you can download and modify the sourcecode, which is written in Squeak. It occurred to me that a fun project to improve my Smalltalk chops might be to try to extend the audio capabilities of the program. It still seems like a pretty big project, though. Has anyone else taken a look at it, or have suggestions? I don't know if any of the underlying code is in C, for example, so I have no idea how difficult it would be to, for example, code oscillators (unless Squeak already as some basic synthesis tools built-in?)
