I'm taking an Arduino chip programming workshop at Stanford in a couple weeks and would like to go in with as much of an idea of what I'm looking for as possible. Do people have any favorite simple controllers? Like single touch strips about 6", or whatever? I'd like to be able to give performers two or three controllers, or maybe a nice joystick. Right now I'm working with varying the random jitter in grain duration. It's remarkably expressive for a single controller, but of course it would be better to hand a player something more comfortable than a mouse.

Any ideas?

I know some people who have had a lot of success using a softpot hooked up to Arduino.

I think sparkfun sells them, from memory...
