Hi,
had some unexpected problems with opening apple kyma soundfiles
in my pc kyma-system.
Noticed that the apple kyma soundfile somehow generated two files
in my pc kyma-software, which I both couldn't open!?
Is there a trick you have to keep in mind for exchanging files
between both platforms? (the other way, from pc to apple was no problem
at all)
Best, Florian

If you stick with the convention of using a three letter extension on each of your files, there should be no problem interchanging between OS X and XP. For example:

aSample.aif
aSoundFile.kym
aTimeline.ktl

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but somehow XP generates two
files out of that one apple file, for example for 'dailydrones_pre.kym',
something like '_dailydrones_pre.kym' is generated additionally within
XP, and when I try to open them, I get an error message from kyma.
(I'll send you that by email, since I can't attach it here)

It can't be that the underscore somehow interferes, or can it?
I'm puzzled...

The second file is the "resource fork" that Macintosh files have. We do not store any information in the resource fork of the file, so the Macintosh Finder must be creating it automatically (probably storing the icon size and position). You can ignore the files with the leading underscore.

Thanks for sending the error message by email. From the message, it appears that you are running an older version of Kyma on your PC than the version you are using on the Mac (where you created the files). If you update the PC version from tweaky, the file sharing should go more smoothly.
