It occurred to me today that there are several active Kyma users living in close geographical proximity and that it might be fun sometimes to physically meet and exchange tricks (or simply have a coffee together). One way to coalesce might be to post your location in the forum and ask nearby Kyma adherents to contact you. Who knows who might be living next door?

I live in the heart of Kyma country, in Champaign, Illinois. I don't know how many other users are here besides Kurt, Carla, and Lippold, though, so I'm afreaid that any "tips exchange" sessions would be one-sided, indeed! ;-) I'd enjoy getting together before I finish my studies here, though, for the coffee, at least!

I'm feeling alone here in Drummondville!
As soon as I talk Kyma people look at me as if I were
a) insane or b)martian!
It's a hard world!!

Hi,

Zandvoort, the Netherlands. It's located just outside of Amsterdam.

There was a meeting a long time ago in Amsterdam with Mathis and Florian. If you guys still live in the Benelux or West-Germany? It will be great to bring new life into this user-group!

Best regards,

-Armand

I'm in Rockland County, NY, just north of NYC. I could meet there or local Kyma users could meet at my studio - it's easy enough to get to from the city.

Lots of Kyma users in Holland these days! I discussed the idea with Florian last year (when I rented his capy before I got my own), and I've been talking to Jeremiah about it recently. I can think of at least 6 serious Kyma users that are at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, and that's without counting Paul, Kees and Konrad. It would be interesting to know other Kyma users in Holland and West Germany and exchange ideas. We could also have a session on using the AC Toolbox with Kyma if anybody is interested.

Oh, and I am originally from Mexico City by the way. Didn't know there was much Kyma action happening there, but I'd definitely be interested in finding out what's going on and maybe getting together with whoever's interested next time I go for a visit.

Toronto Canada. Somebody told me there was only 7 or 8 people in Canada that were Kyma users. I'm sure two or three would be in Toronto if that's the case.

I'm also really interested in meeting Kyma users in Japan, specifically Osaka, but also possibly Tokyo. I plan on living there for a year and I hope to get involved and learn from their experimental electronic music scene there. Anyone in Toronto, Osaka, or Tokyo that wants to hang out and talk kyma, you can email me at nospamelectronicbubonic@gmail.com , of course you need to remove the "nospam" part of the email address. Cheers.

Napoli (Neaples), south Italy but still working in Bolzano in northern Italy (very close to Osterreich, and 1000 Km north from Neaples).
It would be very helpful talking about Kyma in this latitude or interact deeply with other kyma users in let's say a "Kyma-coffee-forum?!?".
Bye

Hey, that's 2 of us in Park Slope. What happened to "there can be only one"? Perhaps we are now required to do a kyma duel at barbes or that little coffee shop on Bergen ...

Just to revive this thread - I'd be interested in getting in touch with Kyma people in the LA area. Maybe we could have a user's group, or something less formal (I wonder how the User's Group in New York City has gone?).

Also, I'll be up in San Francisco around the weekend of June 24th - thinking of going up a few days earlier, and maybe to Santa Cruz, but not sure yet. But if anyone is up there and wants to meet, let me know.

My email is pcurt@pacbell.net.

Phil

The first meeting went well, with 6 attendees I think. I'm going to be setting up the next meeting soon, although I think that rather than trying to find an institution like NYU in New York (where we had the first meeting), we're going to do it in individual member's studios. We'll probably do the next one at my place, and perhaps rotate among the other members for future meetings.

Attached is my zipped Google Earth location file - any Kymites visiting Berlin are welcome to visit and exchange ideas.
(Just open the kmz file in Google Earth to zoom over!)

Andrew

P.S. If google could install a global network of environmental sound sampling / streaming modules (solar powered!) - that would be more than cool - using the Kyma whooshing sound for zooming of course ;-) Then I could fall asleep to the live streaming sound of the deep amazonas forest........

Afterall Google, isn't sound, information too?
