a little warning - I just installed Reaktor 3 on the same machine I run Kyma (PC) and afterwards Kyma didn't run and freezed during startup. I found a note in the Reaktor forum on the NI site about problems with the dongle (USB) and the Kyma installation for one betatester. I reinstalled Kyma after deinstalling Reaktor and it seems to run fine again.
I assume that the Wibu-Key protection installed some files that somehow interfered with the Kyma installation.

Whew!

I guess I lucked out on this one. I just installed Reaktor 3.x yesterday and my Kyma system kept running just fine...

The Reaktor 3.0 beta tester you refer to is probably me. If you can tell me where you found the beta tester information, and if it is now public information, I can probably give more details on this problem. For now, I'll just say while the Capy cards - both PCI and ISA - get clobbered, they are not really the cause of the problem, more like innocent bystanders.

If you happen to have a motherboard that uses the Via chip set, and you are running Windows 98 SE, there probably is a downloadable fix fom Microsoft that has to do with the Microsoft USB driver. Read about it in the Support FAQ on this bbs.

Hi John,
>>>If you happen to have a motherboard that uses the Via chip set, and you are running Windows 98 SE, there probably is a downloadable fix fom Microsoft that has to do with the Microsoft USB driver.<<<

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I didn't check the Kyma forum for a some days therefore the delay ...
I use a board with BX chipset (like in all my other PCs except server) and always stay away from VIA chipsets as they are known to give several problems.
The problem with Kyma went away after updating the WIBU key (USB-copy protection)to the newest driver and reinstalling Kyma. Since then everything runs fine.

>>>The Reaktor 3.0 beta tester you refer to is probably me. If you can tell me where you found the beta tester information, and if it is now public information, I can probably give more details on this problem.<<<
I found this hint in the regular Reaktor Forum.

BTW: I never thought the Capy card and it's driver is the problem but admit that I thought for a moment that this was intentional by NI when founding Kyma on the same machine ... but companies would never be that nasty ... ;-) ... or?
Anyway I'm pretty sure it was the lame USB WIBU driver that caused the problem.
