has anyone tried to create crowd footsteps sampling a few basic foley steps and scuffs and making a nice big crowd from it with grain synth? altering pitch and duration slightly? what are your experiences?

Well, I haven't made footsteps, but I have made some really good collages with voices - basically a murmuring crowd sound - using granulators.

Use really long grain-times and set the density VERY low. (I learned this from the forum a couple of months ago.)

too bad that you can't modulate the
sample playback rate for the sample
cloud. then you can get some pitch
variation in there too.

i'd really like to see sample cloud
behave more like grain cloud. abstractly
they are the same thing--they both read
from a table. but grain cloud let's you
have a frequency jitter and sample
cloud does not. a feature like this
would make sample cloud much more
interesting.

my biggest problem with sample cloud is that i can not reassamble the original sample correctly, whithout granulation and than start the granulation.has anybody found the right settings yet? i also have problems in making the density very low but the window quite long.
any help???
