![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone know if these two synthesis methods are possible in Kyma. I have not yet fully explored Kyma so if there is somthing already, just point me in the right direction. I have Pulsar Generator and I like the sound it makes and would like to impliment it in Kyma perhaps with more realtime control. Also I heard Barry truax play an example of Fog synthesis dissolving/resolving a clarinet tone (I think from Leonado Music Journal CD) and it was amazing. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() You might want to have a look at the Sound file called 'embrace the artifact' that I just posted to the tweaky: http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Share/Sounds#MadSynths Another Sound you might want to have a look at is in the Kyma Sound Library/Synthesis-backgrounds and pads/Distortion synthesis, a Sound called 'glitchy ambience from iterated waveshaper' For pulsar synthesis, I recommend experimenting with the following: For FOG, I would experiment with GrainCloud and SampleCloud. If you set the TimeIndex on a SampleCloud to a fullRamp that lasts the same as the duration of the original sample, you can experiment with disintegrating the sample. Good luck and let us know how you get on! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Part of the idea behind FOG synthesis is to use "natural" or physical parameter controls. For example, if you drop a ping pong ball and it bounces, there is a characteristic sequence of attacks that get closer and closer together. Here are a couple examples of how to generate a "bounce gesture" using Kyma Sounds and CapyTalk: (see the Sound file called bounce.kym) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know if this is the same thing, but when I Googled "fog synthesis" I found this: http://www.crusher-x.de/ It seems to be an interesting variation on granular synthesis. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Simon, Do *not* look at this: http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Share/Sounds#Synthesis foggy.kym (I don't want to be responsible for you failing any exams [This message has been edited by SSC (edited 20 April 2004).] IP: Logged |
