![]() ![]() ![]() You're not alone! I was going thru the 5.0 Timeline tutorial and was amazed that you could set markers but not loop on them. I suppose that you could use MTC and a sequencer and the Timeline would follow the sequencers loop(?) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() You can click in the time ruler or use the transport control buttons to jump to new times or markers. (The data structure is actually already set up for associating markers with MIDI program changes. It just hasn't been implemented yet). For now, you may be able to get similar results using looping samples or AnalogSequencers. Put a WaitUntil in another track at the same time as the Samples and AnalogSequencers; this will allow them to loop for an arbitrary amount of time (i.e. until the Resume condition of the WaitUntil is met). ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately the WaitUntil solution doesn't seem to work for certain Sounds, specifically those that rely on a !BPM value to work. For example, when I try the WaitUntil technique with a BPMRandoMiniLoop (one of my fav Sound protos), after hitting the WaitUntil point the MiniLoop keeps playing, but the loop points no longer update; it just keeps running with the same parameters. So in this case, the overall sound is affected by the presence or absense of "cursor time" as well as DSP time. Another fun thing to try, were there a loopback Sound, would be to allow the timeline to run through the same sequence multiple times while varying which take of an automated controller to use. Just a thought... So, here's what occured to me. Since it's possible to modify the current time in a timeline "manually" by clicking on the time ruler, there must be some kind of Smalltalk message going on behind the scenes which basically tells the ruler that it's been clicked, and at such-and-such point in time, et cetera. Which initiates the actual change. So in theory it should be able to write a Script which sends the same message, or one which essentially does the same thing. Does that sound feasible? ...oops, I just downloaded the last few software updates and realized that what I said about the !BPM parameter was already fixed a couple revs back. I'm a big dumb dodo head. I still think that some kind of loopback control in the timeline would be a good idea, if only because it seems like such a useful and obvious way of interacting with that kind of interface.
