Author | Topic: VCS Layout menu problems in timeline |
BartonMcLean Member |
![]() ![]() ![]() I have struggled with the VCS layout menu for some time. What is supposed to happen is that, when you make a parameter of a timeline sound live and then play the timeline, only that sound will appear in the righthand VCS layout menu, and only the live parameter will appear in the VCS as a live control. This is the case in many of the stock timeline examples provided. I have a fairly complex timeline mix containing c. 30 separate bars of timeline material in 8 channels (only 2-4 appearing at any one time). When I make any parameter of any of these live in the parameter control area at the bottom, when I play the timeline and try to access the particular sound that I am working with in the VCS layout menu, I get virtually every sound's layout with all its sub layouts, resulting in some cases of hundreds of lines of layouts and sublayouts, not in any particular order in terms of the top sound layout, making it difficult to locate the particular sound I'm working with. I need help! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Only the sound that has a live parameter should appear in this layout menu. Second question: Is there any logic to the order the sounds appear in the VCS layout menu? If they were alphebetical or if they were in the order of being added, it would make it easier to find them. I get the same problem when ANY of my timeline sounds has: When these conditions apply to any sound, I again get the whole bananna of layouts for every sound in the timeline. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution? Thanks. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Bart, Could you please send us your Timeline via email? It should not behave as you describe but it is difficult to pin down exactly what is going on without seeing your specific combination of Sounds and VCS's. Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Since my archived file (compressed) was 95 mb, I couldn't send it via email, or via YouSendIt either, without paying bucks. So I cut a demo version with 1/3 of the content. When I tried this version, the problem seemed to be there slightly, but not nearly as bad as it should have been. So before I bother you with another wild goose chase (of which I've been guilty of recently) I'd like to do more sleuthing on my own, on the premise that something is going on with material toward the end of the piece. I'll let you know what I find out. Actually, the deeper I get into the Timeline-VCS complexity, the more amazing I realize what you've managed to accomplish, and I've found it to be extraordinarily useful even with the occasional problems.
