I would like to know why Kyma closes an editor window (actually first closes other editor windows) when saving changes (pressing Control + S).

Kyma Sounds are always contained within a file with other Sounds (for example, a timeline file, Sound file, or compiled Sound grid file).

"File Save" saves the Sound being edited and also saves to disk the contents of the entire file that contains that Sound.

This means that Kyma needs to save all Sounds in the file being edited whenever any Sound in the file is saved. That's why all other editors are have to be closed.
