I am sorry, but this is a 3D animation ...
I thought you were talking about a real FANTASTIC MACHINE.
Something like the Capybara ... ;-)

Cheers,
Camille

There's also a great one in the QuickTime HD gallery on Apple's website with huge screen resolution.

Don't forget - for not too much money, you can buy one or both of their DVDs and support their work. They wrote a MIDI to motion graphics engine - the set is modeled, the tune composed and the camera path set - then the whole thing is rendered based on the MIDI notes. My daughter loves this - good Christmas present. And no, I am not affiliated in any way.

Here is a KymaMusic thought.

Kyma -> MotorMix -> PC Midi Interface -> XB111 -> Cinema 4D

Info and movie samples can be found at: www.xb111.de and www.maxon.net

I wonder whether the MotorMix would even be required in the chain. Maybe you could send continuous controls directly to the Xb111? Or maybe direct to C4D?

Hi SSC,

Yes, you are quite right. There is a way to create such plugins using the C4D SDK.

This link is to a C4D Plugin that can create animations for piano keys and pedals from standard MIDI files.
