Hi Everybody,

About a year ago I posted a request for collaboration stating my skill with Kyma was nil, so whoever worked with me would need to carry the programming weight. That has changed. I presented an interactive piece at San Mateo Maker Faire last week that was successful and well received, so it’s probably fair to say that I can carry my own weight now.

There was an octo setup of Mackies, and participants stood in the center with a Wiimote. I did Noh drama vocalizations through a mic, and five timeline tracks routed them through various reverbs and delays. Each of the five had a different automation for its angle track.

My Capy would run only three tracks at a time without crackling, so I varied which three were playing.

After getting bogged down close to the deadline, I ended up sending only two instructions from the Wiimotes: Rolling the dice and advancing the presets. Nevertheless, people seemed to enjoy the sense of control.

So once again, if you’re a Kyma person in northern California, please consider collaboration. I’m open to just about anything that sounds good, and I don’t need to make any money (at least not yet).
