I am just working in a timeline and looking for the occurance of a varibale ie. !MyVariable, which appeares in more than one sound in a timeline. I have tryed the "get info' and other commands for dsicribing sounds under the 'info' menu, and it struck me that the 'Describe Structure' would be very useful if it also showed all the user defined varibales as get info does per unit of ones sound algorithm - ie. something that would show all the user variables in one go for a particular sound or channel of a time line.

Oh, yes!
I've wished for something like the ctrl-B 'Browse' function for finding prototypes
to be implemented for hot controls, even within a single sound. Would make working with complex sounds much easier.
cheers,
Bill

Would it help to have a Find in the DAG part of the Sound Editor? This would allow you to find the first/next Sound in the DAG that contains a certain text string.

Yes, that would be helpful. Anything to allow an easier way of finding where hot parameters are actually used.
It would be best if it would take you not just to the sound, but to the 'field' within the sound where the parameter is referenced, but 'whatever can be done' ;-)

cheers,
Bill

I think the search function would be great too - would make finding the variable in a large patch much easier. I would really like a get info function that showed the structure of the sound and listed all user defined variables under the level of the sound in which they occure - that would make it easy to work out how to rearrange control surfaces etc
