Hello everybody.
First of all i am a beginner in Kyma.
I think that the best way to learn is with practicing and with the help of others.
Well. i´m trying to build a linear phase eq with a 12dsp Capybara (weiss style??).
My goals are.

-Five identical parametric bands.
-All Five bands cover the entire audio frequency range.
-Each band will have Boost/Cut, Frequency and Q/Slope.
-Each band operates in any of the following modes: High shelving, low shelving, peaking, high cut24db, low cut24db, bypass.
-Excellent bass response and transparent high pass filter.

hehe...

Ok i think that we can build a very accurate linear phase with IRR filters, there are some clever ways to get linear phase out of an IIR filter, by running the signal in first forward and then backward.
Then:
What are the first steps?
We have IIR filters in kyma, we guess that we need a buffer in order to get linear phase....
I´m a bit lost
Can you help me?

All the results will be published in this forum.

Alfonso

You could first design a patch that plays a sample reversed.
Feed that reversed sample through your filter.
Record the filtered reverse signal to disk.
Then put the name of the disk file into your patch as the new sample file.

Thanks for your answer.
Really i don`t know if this procedure is the correct way to make linear filtering hehe, anyway i will design this patch and will see what happens.

The purpose that i have to create that equalizer is to include kyma in my mastering chain, i think that we can design a excellent linear phase equalizer with kyma.

Maybe the best way is to design first one eq band and metering the result in order to see if the output of the filter is in phase.
I found in the web this (http://www.cs.tut.fi/~ts/Talk2.pdf): Linear phase IRR filter composed of two parallel all pass sections. Is in math lenguage, maybe somebody could help us to translate in kyma objects.

Thanks a lot.

PhaseLinearIIRFilter.kym

Ok i found this sound in kyma tweaky, PhaseLinearIIRFilter.kym by David McClain... lucky.
I can´t open because: ¨The μSound class named DirectIIR does not exist¨
The same it happend when i opened another Sound named ¨TheDominator¨.
Maybe i missing some files, Could anyone help me?
Thanks in advance

Kyma when used with the older Capybara systems supported "microsounds", sound primitives written in the Capybara's native DSP programming language. Symbolic Sound offered a "software development kit" (SDK) that enabled advanced users to create their own microsounds.

The microsounds have to be download and installed in order to use them. There is some work involved in doing this that you will have to do first, including informing Kyma which microsound set it should currently use.

There is a bit of discussion about using microsounds in some of the older posts on this forum. Normally I would suggest asking this as a question on the new Kyma 7 Q&A site but Kyma 7 does not work with the Capybara, and microsounds developed for the Capybara do not work with Pacaranas. So some of this knowledge is starting to fade into history.

Anyway try sifting though the forums here as there is a great deal of Kyma and Capybara know-how that is buried in these posts.

Here's where you can find David's microsounds (there is also a discussion about how to load them). http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Share/Microsounds
