Hi,

I have upgraded to the latest Flame firmware (july 2005).
I noticed that there was no more white-noise-like sound when the Capybara was turned on ; there is just a little sound while the DSP are being initialized. Is that a new feature of the latest firmware?
If so, that's great!
If not, that's great too!

Hi !

I am perhaps just dreaming, I still this noise from time to time but it must less than before the update. It seems there is something related to the order of power on of the units ...

You're right about the order of powering up. I had intermittent bursts of noise a while back. I found that if I powered up my MOTU 828MkII first, then my Capy, I didn't get the noise at all. I have been doing that ever since, and it has not occured again. It might be worth noting that I use primarily the SPDIF IO on the Capy and my MOTU is the master clock.

i use the AES/EBU out direct to my monitors. i don't get noise but i do get a (fairly loud) pop or two sometimes on start up. i try to remember to keep the volume down on the monitors on start up because of it.

i had to guess i think it the monitors re-sync from the AES/EBU clock that is causing it.

NOW I UNDERSTAND!!!
It has nothing to do with the new firmware update.
At the same time I plugged the S/PDIF I/O's on my FireWire 410 audio interface, which is now the master for the clock timing.

That's why I only have a burst of noise at startup ...
