RainstormGenerator.kym

hello there! I am new to kyma and would like to share a sound I've just created.

I'd also like any and all advice on improving this sound, and also on how to manage DSP better (capybara320+2 cards). For example, how can I create more defined thunder cracks (besides recording a new sample)? I saw a post on it on the tweaky a while back, and am wondering if anyone has been successful in this?

I've uploaded the Sound, but the individual samples are too large... in any case, here is a link the 3min wav of rain+thunder (adjusted on the fly with wacom intuos4): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66176129/KymaRain1shot.wav

I adjusted parameters to create varying thickness of rain, a howling wind, and heavy, rolling thunder.

I like the way you create a strong sense of foreground, middleground, background effect in your example. It reminds me of a heavy rainstorm when there's a road nearby and you hear the traffic splashing through the water in the distance.

(Maybe you could post your original samples on dropbox so we can play your patch?)

Hi khaudio

You may be interested in synthesizing thunder as per the forum post below.

It uses Pete's DSP modules, so no good for paca/rana owners, but it seems that you are using a capybara in any case so it should work for you.

Thank you for the help; I made some variations, and corrections.

For some reason, I had two of the same sample loaded, and both were reversed. A silly mistake.
I also obtained new great new samples of thunder from The Hollywood Edge.

Pete, I tried the Thunder Synth (and I like it!), but I can't quite get that cracking sound I'm looking for from it.

Here is the updated Sound. It should be much smoother now. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66176129/Tempest.zip

This is awesome.
Great work, feeling the love.

Let the thunder roll.

Here is the most recent version. New samples and more hot values (forgive me for the messy link; I just can't seem to get it to link properly via UBB code).
