![]() ![]() ![]() My first attempts at making ktl files into WAVE into MPEG have been sonic atrocities. There seem to be larger dynamical changes than I am used to (as if there is not compromise enough in this compression scheme). How do you suggest I do this? I am using MusicMatch. I could use Sound Forge, but right now that would be inconvenient. SQUIDPOP IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() We do not have any experience with Windows programs for making MP3 files, but we use the Mac OS X utility called iTunes to convert AIFF files to MP3 files and have not noticed any problems with dynamic range. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Bob, I have been using CoolEdit/Pro (Win/98SE) quite successfully here (if you consider MP3 encoding a success...) The only trouble I have run into is with highly pathological recordings of intense noise, with voices burried deep within and stong interfering carriers. But normal music goes over quite well. - DM IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() David, Thanks. Perhaps it is a pathological track, at that? I certainly am not striving for normal music, here. I listened again and it sounds a little better to my ear. Still not good. Bob IP: Logged |
