I recently purchased a secondhand Kyma Paca with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 Firewire soundcard. It is being used with a Mac Mini. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to wire everything up. (This is my first day using the Kyma)

Physical Setup:
Mac Mini is connected to Kyma Paca with FW800 cable.
Kyma Paca is connected to Saffire Pro 24 with FW800-400 cable.

Mac Mini is running OSX 10.9.5
Kyma X has been installed with latest updates.

Everything seems to be working, except Kyma X doesn't allow me to select the Saffire Pro 24 as an output device in the Kyma X Status window.

Earlier today Kyma X was working fine with the Saffire Pro. I was able to select the Saffire Pro as an output device and Kyma successfully output audio.

To troubleshooting one problem I connected the Saffire Pro directly to the Mac Mini (for the first time) and installed the Saffire Pro drivers. The Saffire driver setup insisted on installing a firmware update for the Saffire Pro. The driver setup also reset the Saffire to its default factory settings.

After this I reconnected the Saffire Pro directly to the Kyma. Now the Kyma X is unable to see the Saffire Pro as a device. (Device connections were changed while everything was powered down and disconnected from the wall power socket.)

I'm guessing that the factory reset has changed something and I need to reconfigure the Saffire Pro. Alternatively the updated firmware may be incompatible with the Kyma.

I couldn't find any suggestions on how to fix this in the wiki or searching the forum here, but I'm only a newbie so may have missed something.

Any idea what I need to do to use the Saffire Pro with Kyma X?

Thanks
Shannon

You have to uninstall the Saffire drivers on the Mac. The Pacarana won't take control of a device if the computer is already using it. Good luck!

Thanks Bendy, that was it. Uninstalled the drivers, restarted and it worked. Didn't realise the drivers would need to be uninstalled if the soundcard wasn't directly connected to the Mac.
