At very narrow settings for the filterbank bandwidths, the individual resonances show up most strongly. With a resonant bass frequency for the plate around 100 Hz and bandwidth settings around 0.002 we get something strongly reminiscent of a Spanish guitar (a cheap Spanish guitar!). If you play the notes in the octaves below middle C the effect is quite astonishing! This suggests to me that apart from the resonant cavity of the body of the guitar, the resonances of the face plates strongly affect the sound of the instrument. If you change the material properties of the guitar body, all else remaining the same, then it should profoundly affect the sound of the instrument. E.g., a plastic body would sound different from a metal body. I wonder if this is actually the case? - DM IP: Logged | |
