1) Is there a way to stop playback in the Spectrum Editor? When dealing with long analysis files, this becomes a big problem. Did I miss it somewhere?

2) The Spectrum Editor really needs "Undo" - preferrably "Multiple Undo". Sometimes I find that I don't like the results of a modification, but there is no way back...

Undo, multiple level undo, and stopping the playback of the spectrum are all on the list.
