JabbaArchive.zip

Hi All,

I had forgotten about this project until recently. This is an exercise in how far I could go in Kyma with a VCS style approach (I went sick with it It's still a work in progress albeit on the back burner at the moment.

I ran into a problem that I would really appreciate some assistance with: This sound works on a Pacarana when the polyphony is set to 3 or less. Any more and I get an OORT message.

I would really appreciate any suggestions that would enable the polyphony to get up to 6 or more if possible.

regards,
Sean

i had a quick look at Jabba.
Nice! I really like it. Here my experiences from a similar project.

As i started with Kyma i was creating the first version of my VA/FM Drum Synthesizer/Sequencer and i ran into the same problems as you with Jabba.
Every "drum module" just used a tiny amount of DSP power on the pacarana. But combined altogether i ran into annoying OUT OF REAL TIME..
The DSP was just at 3/4 of one CPU so i wondered.. I forced the drumslots to individual CPUs... No improvement..
I tried my patch in the timeline ... and it was instantly freezing everthing. :-( bad.

So i was forced to reviews my designs... i could not believe that i already build an instrument to complex for kyma!

At first i used lots of Global Controllers... to have it as modular/flexable/expandable as possible. I created for example 8 Global "mixable wave LFOs" which i send as Global Controllers to almost any parameter of the individual synths modules.(quite similar to your WildscLFO)
It turned out that huge amount of Global Controllers created the OUT OF REALTIME errors. So i changed my design to dedicated "wires" and "switches" for a kind of modulation "Bus - Matrix". This was improving performance and eliminating the annoying Errors !

Hope that helps a bit.

Have a nice day
Chris
