I have placed two Sounds in a track in the attached timeline (TimeDisruptor.ktl). The first Sound is a TimeStopper. The second Sound has this expression in the Gate fields of a MultisegmentEnvelope and an ADSR: (!KeyDown bpm: (60/ (!RampDur + 6)) dutyCycle: 0.9). The issue for me is this: whenever I try to trigger a sound from the second Sound, the response is delayed by whatever amount of time the TimeStopper was stopped. This is not an issue when !KeyDown is not part of an expression in the Gate fields. If the !Gate field is simply !KeyDown, then the sound is triggered at once, even if the TimeStopper had paused the progress of the timeline for quite a while. So, how might I repair this rip in the fabric of time? Many thanks for your help! Sam [This message has been edited by SamPellman (edited 29 April 2012).] IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() I tried playing PaleLuminous02stereo by itself (by double-click it to open a Sound editor on it and playing it outside the Timeline). When I send a !KeyDown, there is a delay before the frequency ramps up an octave (about 3 seconds later). When I play it in the context of the Timeline, it seems to have the same delay (about 3 s). I suspect the delay is the result of the bpm: calculation in the Gate field (where BPM ~= 10). Is that what you are hearing too or is it something else? Thanks! IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() The first stage of the Multisegment Envelope is responsible, by design, for the 3 second delay before the ramp begins. The problem, however, is that the actual onset of the envelope is delayed in the timeline by whatever duration the TimeStopper is paused (the onset is nearly instantaneous when PaleLuminous is played outside the timeline). btw, this is running on a Capy 320 under Kyma 6.81f1. Thanks! IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks, Sam. I tried it on a Pacarana. I'll try setting it up on a Capybara and let you know. Have you had a chance to try it on your Pacarana just to compare? IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() Yup, I just tried it on my Pacarana, and the same thing happened. The onset is delayed by the duration that the timeline is paused by the TimeStopper. (Perhaps PaleLuminous uses that time to travel to a distant galaxy and back, so what we are seeing is a relativistic effect!) IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() We have tried your timeline and each time we play a note, the audio starts immediately without delay. Could you please check to see if the problem occurs when using the Fake Keyboard from the Tools menu? (What is your source of the KeyDown?) IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Just for the record, it's moot now (as I note at the end of this post), but yes, this delay happened with the fake keyboard too. If TimeStopper is moved to another track and PaleLuminous initiates before the TimeStopper, then there is no delay. If TimeStopper is moved to another track and TimeStopper initiates before the PaleLuminous, then there is delay. However, this happened with Kyma X, version 6.81f1. With version 6.85f1 the problem has magically disappeared, however! :-) IP: Logged |
