I'm using this short expression in the frequency field of a sample:

!KeyPitch nn hz * (!sw01 true: 1 false: -1)

to enable arbitrary reversal of the sample file.

It seems that the sample is not re-triggered if the frequency is negative.

Is there an elegant work-around ?

One way you could simplify it would be to use

!KeyPitch hz * !sw01

and then use the VCS to set the minimum value of sw01 to -1 and the quantization to 1 or 2.

To ensure that it retriggers, perhaps you could put the following into the Gate field

!sw01 abs

or else use !KeyDown if you only want to trigger when a new pitch comes in.
