![]() ![]() ![]() Hi, I've been pretty quiet on the forum recently, because I've been spending a lot of time developing a Max patch that will act as a hub for distributing control signals to Kyma and midi devices (in my case, my Nord Modular engine). The basic idea is being able to redistribute pen, wii, randomly generated, etc controllers to whatever destination you want it to go to (via the Max flame object to Kyma, or via midi contollers to midi devices), on the fly and with presets. It also allows processing to be applied to the control signals. I recently created a demo video for a grant application that I was writing, and thought people might be interested in looking at it. (I don't really envision this video getting out on YouTube or anything - it's pretty cheesily produced, the thing is still in development, it has an ugly interface, it's probably of limited general interest, etc). Feel free to make comments/suggestions. Sorry that the sounds are mostly the Nord and not Kyma - I just did what seemed simplest at the time. Even the more complicated patches at the beginning and ending are not that complicated, and most of the interesting stuff is being generated via the max patch/pen/etc. The cpu hits on the Nord and Kyma are pretty low. I'm not planning on distributing this patch, but just using it for my own purposes. The main reason for this is that I can't imagine supporting it in any way for other users. But if anyone wants to try to code something like this in a real programming language instead of Max, that would seem the most practical way to make something that could actually be distributed... Incidentally, some of my early efforts to do things like this entirely within Kyma are on the wiki. I suppose there is potential to do even more by writing a Kyma tool, but I wouldn't know how to do that at the moment. Ultimately, I decided that I could save a lot of Kyma programming time and Capy CPU by creating a patch in Max. Here's the link: http://www.philcurtis.org/video/MaxDemo_Small.mov Right now I'm just waiting for my new Macbook Pro so that I can get better performance (you'll notice it's prettly sluggish, especially graphically - Max, or at least my programming of it, is pretty inefficient...), and so I can have bluetooth and incorporate the wii controller. Phil BTW - the demo's 20 minutes, just to forwarn. [This message has been edited by Phi Curtis (edited 14 July 2007).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Oops, if anyone tried to look at it this afternoon, please try again. There was no sound... I had thought I had saved it as a self-contained movie, but apparently I hadn't. Phil IP: Logged |
