a question which i wanted to ask for a long time.
how can i create individual grains with a duration of about 4 sec.?
i donīt see why i canīt have grains longer than 1 sec.
is there any constraint built in?

Yes, the GrainCloud algorithm does clip the durations of the grains to a maximum of 1 second. We were assuming the "classic" form of granular synthesis in which the grain envelopes are typically 0.2 s or shorter.

(One way to get a grain-cloud-like effect but with longer envelopes, might be to mix together several oscillators, each with a randomly triggered envelope generator and a randomly chosen frequency)
